Brightdog double header
10th & 11th April only!
After the overwhelming success of 'As the Snow Falls', BrightDog Theatre is pleased to announce the debut of two (!) new pieces of theatre, both one act plays being performed back to back on the same evening:
Last Call
by Aidan McConville
What happens when we can't face difficulty? When walking away feels easier than staying? When a single, inconspicuous wrong call forces a conversation that's been avoided for years?
Last Call follows two estranged brothers living parallel lives in London, separated by their father's death and years of silence. When a drunken phone call reconnects them, it exposes how each has responded to loss in different ways - one unable to let go, the other crippled by indecision.
A Brother's Duty
by Tom Messmer
A dark Irish comedy following two brothers as they strive to remain united after one of them kidnapped a young woman because he thought she had stolen a precious family heirloom from him.

AS THE
SNOW FALLS
As the Snow Falls follows Kenneth and Sam – two men in a pub from starkly different cultural backgrounds, both abandoned by society in very different ways. But despite their differences, they are ultimately united by laughter and a love of music.

This provocative comedy examines the shifting social landscape and its impact on an often over-looked demographic. Through the lens of an ever-diminishing pub culture, Kenneth and Sam’s unlikely connection emerges from one man’s desperate search for meaning.

What happens when the arts are stripped from the working class? How do people communicate in a world where technology has replaced human connection? Pull up a stool, share a pint, and watch Kenneth and Sam stumble, clash, and navigate their way through it.
PRAISE FOR AS THE SNOW FALLS
"One of the strongest pieces of theatre I've seen in years. A stunning mix of dark comedy, social commentary and raw emotion."
"The interplay between the characters was hilarious, with impeccable comedic timing. And when the emotional moments hit, they hit hard."
"A fantastic idea and a powerful commentary on modern society - especially from the perspective of a male."
"A gripping and honest portrayal of male loneliness and loss. It felt so real, and at times, painfully close to home."
"A deeply moving exploration of grief, isolation and human connection. Despite our differences, we all crave love, friendship and purpose."
"Just amazing. Thought-provoking, raw and beautifully executed. It made me reflect, which is exactly what I want from theatre."
